I Am Not Being Alerted For All Notifications

If you have your Garmin® watch set up to receive notifications from your phone, but are not being alerted with a pop up and vibration for all of them, you will want to check your watch settings. Many watches allow you to specify "Phone Calls Only" or "Calls and Texts" meaning that only those types of notifications will alert you. All other notification types will still come through to notification widget glance on the watch, but will not provide you with a vibration or audible alert. Watch Settings

Watch settings can vary by watch model, check your owner's manual for "Enabling Phone Notifications" to get instructions for your watch. Some models will not have these settings on the device and will need to be customized in the Garmin Connect™ app.

Watches Without Focus Modes

  1. Select Settings in the watch menu.

  2. Select Connectivity or Notifications & Alerts.

    • Select Phone, on some models.

  3. Select Notifications or Smart Notifications.

  4. Adjust settings for the following:

    • During Activity

    • General Use or Not During Activity

    • During Sleep, on select models

If you are wanting a vibration or audible alert for all notifications you will need to change your Notification settings to: Show All.

Watches With Focus Modes

For watches with Focus Modes, follow the steps below to set the general behavior for the watch.

  1. Hold MENU (middle left) button.

  2. Select Watch Settings.

  3. Select Notifications & Alerts

  4. Select Smart Notifications.

  5. Select CallsTexts, or Apps to adjust the watch behavior for that type of notification.

    • Status - adjusts whether the watch alerts for that type of notification at all.

    • Tone - watch will make a sound when receiving that type of notification.

    • Vibration - watch vibrate when receiving that type of notification

To adjust your notifications settings while a Focus Mode is engaged (such as during an activity or your scheduled sleep times) follow the steps below:

  1. Hold MENU (middle left) button.

  2. Select Watch Settings.

  3. Select Focus Modes.

  4. Select the Focus Mode you want to adjust, such as Activity.

  5. Select Notifications & Alerts.

  6. Select Smart Notifications.

  7. Select CallsTexts, or Apps to adjust the watch behavior for that type of notification.

    • Status - adjusts whether the watch alerts for that type of notification at all.

    • Tone - watch will make a sound when receiving that type of notification.

    • Vibration - watch vibrate when receiving that type of notification


Garmin Connect™ App Settings:

NOTE: Device settings will vary by model. For detailed instructions, refer to your owner's manual.

  1. Open the Garmin Connect App.

  2. Select More (bottom right corner).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select your watch model.

  5. Select Devices Settings, Alerts, Sounds & Alerts, or Notifications & Alerts (depending on model).

  6. Select Smart Notifications.

  7. Set Not During Activity or General Use to: Show All.
