Automotive Device Shutting Down or Rebooting While Plugged Into a Vehicle
Your Garmin Automotive device should not shut down or reboot while plugged into a vehicle. There are four main resolutions to this issue.
Make Sure Your Device is Plugged Directly Into Your Vehicle With its Original Garmin Power Cable
Do not use a splitter, USB, or third-party cable
- Ensure the vehicle power cable is securely inserted into the powered mount or the port on the device itself
- See the owner's manual of your device if you're unsure where to plug in the vehicle power cable on your device
Your vehicle power cable and receptacle need to be debris-free and clean in order to make a proper mechanical and electrical connection
- Ensure the vehicle power cable is plugged in all the way to the cigarette lighter or 12V outlet and the LED light is lit
See Buying Automotive Accessories Directly from Garmin for instructions to purchase a replacement Garmin power cable
Remove any Memory Cards in the Device
Format the memory card if this resolves your issue
Ensure the Device Software is up to Date
See the Software section under your device in Support Center
Make Sure it is not Too Hot in the Vehicle
Contact Product Support if the issue continues.
