Changing Your Current Location on a Touchscreen Handheld

If you would like your touchscreen handheld to show a different location other than your current location, the device can be put into demo mode. At that point, you can change the location. If the device is in Normal mode, it will automatically locate its correct position.

Remember to take the device out of demo mode when you are ready to use it again. Instructions for both enabling and disabling demo mode can be found below.

Changing the Current Location

Select your device below and follow the instructions


Alpha® Series Dog Tracking Handhelds

  1. Starting at the Main Menu, touch Arrow pointing upat the bottom of the screen
  2. Select Satellite
  3. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  4. Select Use With GPS Off
  5. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  6. Select Set Location On Map
  7. Use the Map to select the desired position
  8. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.

To quickly have the device locate your current location, turn the device off and back on. Alternatively, follow steps 1 through 3 from above and select Use With GPS On to locate your current location.


Dakota™ Series Outdoor Handheld

  1. Starting at the Main Menu, select Setup  
  2. Select System
  3. Select GPS
  4. Select Demo Mode
  5. Return to the Main Menu
  6. Touch Satellite Status Bar Icon
  7. Touch the bottom right corner of the screen
  8. Use the Map to select the desired position
  9. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.

To quickly have the device locate your current location, turn the device off and back on. Alternatively, follow steps 1 through 3 from above and select Normal to locate your current location.


eTrex® Touch Series Outdoor Handheld

  1. Press power button to access the app drawer
  2. Select Satellite
  3. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  4. Select Use With GPS Off
  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  6. Select Set Loc. On Map
  7. Use the Map to select the desired position
  8. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.

To quickly have the device locate your current location, turn the device off and back on. Alternatively, follow steps 1 through 3 from above and select Use With GPS On to locate your current location


Montana® 600 Series Outdoor Handhelds

  1. Starting at the Main Menu, touch Arrow pointing upat the bottom of the screen

  1. Touch House Menu Icon to reach the Main Menu
  2. Select Satellite
  3. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  4. Select Satellite Setup
  5. Select Satellite System
  6. Select Demo Mode
  7. Touch Montana Back to return to the previous screen
  8. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  9. Select Set Location On Map
  10. Use the Map to select the desired position
  11. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.

To quickly have the device locate your current location, turn the device off and back on. Alternatively, follow steps 1 through 3 from above and select Use With GPS On to locate your current location.


Oregon® 200, 300, 400, or 500 Series Outdoor Handhelds

  1. Starting at the Main Menu, select Setup  
  2. Select System
  3. Select GPS
  4. Select Demo Mode

  6. Select Set Location On Map
  7. Use the Map to select the desired position
  8. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.

    • If your user interface is set to Activity Mode, press power buttonto access the app drawer
  2. Select Satellite
  3. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  4. Select Use With GPS Off
  5. Touch Three horizontal lines stacked
  6. Select Set Location On Map
  7. Use the Map to select the desired position
  8. Once the position is set, select Use

The new location will now be set as your current location on the device.
