Regulations and Exemptions Supported by the Garmin eLog
Note: All regulations and exemptions supported by the Garmin eLog™ app require the latest version of the eLog app to be installed. See Software Update and Version of the Garmin eLog ELD and App.
The Garmin eLog application supports FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and exemptions for both property-carrying and passenger-carrying vehicles. The Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD supports Federal regulations only and does not support individual state regulations. See below for the regulations and exemptions supported for each type.
Garmin Product Support is only able to provide support for the Garmin eLog App and the Garmin eLog ELD and are not able to address any regulation related information or questions. For official HOS Regulation information and questions, visit the FMCSA Hours of Service website and view the Hours of Service page.
For more information on official Exemptions, visit the FMCSA FAQ website and search for exemptions, such as Agriculture exemption, etc.
Contact your Motor Carrier with any questions on why some options may or may not be available.
The Garmin ELD is compliant in Alaska, however, the unique Hours of Service regulations associated with Alaska are not supported. Using the Garmin ELD in Alaska, you may receive erroneous HOS violations. As a driver/motor carrier, you are responsible to maintain all knowledge of Hours of Service limits and regulations when using the Garmin ELD in Alaska.
