Using TrueMotion with the Garmin Panoptix PS70
TrueMotion is a feature provided by RealVü™ 3D Historical Sonar. Available course over ground (COG) or heading information is utilized when creating the on-screen representation of the sonar trail, meaning that the motion of the vessel is accounted for. Where previously the image was linear, turns are now clearly visible by the way the path curves when steering the vessel. This ability can be useful for minimizing any overlap on survey paths and can also be utilized to easily return to any waypoints that are marked, as they will be viewable in this mode.
To Utilize TrueMotion
The TrueMotion option is only available when utilizing the Realvu 3D Historical function and is accessed via the Options Menu where it can be toggled to On, Off, or Auto:
ON: Presents a more geographically correct path as turns are shown on screen
OFF: Behavior utilized by previous-gen Panoptix™ transducers for RealVu 3D Historical mode in which returns are presented as a linear trail.
AUTO: View automatically changes based on vessel speed and gps/heading sensor availability
NOTE: TrueMotion cannot be utilized unless there is a valid GPS signal or active magnetic heading source being provided on the network
