Changing Automotive Devices Vehicle Type or Usage Mode
The vehicle type determines how the device will calculate routes. View the list at the bottom of this article for details on how each of these vehicle types works.
To Change the Vehicle Type:
- Touch Tools
- Touch Settings
- Touch System
- Touch the box adjacent to or underneath Usage Mode
- Touch the desired vehicle type
- Touch OK to save the change
The vehicle type/usage mode can be changed by following the listed steps or by touching the vehicle type icon at the top of the main menu.
Repeat the steps above to change the vehicle type again.
The Usage Mode refers to different routes the device can create based on your vehicle type.
Vehicle Types and Usage Modes:
- Automobile or Driving: This is the most-used setting that will give you turn by turn directions based on mapping and road information.
- Pedestrian or Walking: This mode is used when you are walking and will avoid highways. This setting will also keep you away from larger roads and will prefer smaller side streets.
- Bicycle or Bicycling: Turn-by-turn street directions. Will recognize smaller roads or side streets but will avoid highways.
- Boating: With BlueChart maps, this mode allows for detailed marine information like depth charts, tide and current information, and marine points of interest.
