Garmin Watch LED Flashlight Features

Many Garmin watches feature an LED flashlight with the ability to adjust brightness, strobe, color, and activity settings. 

Using the Flashlight

Quickly pressing the LIGHT (upper left) key twice will enable or disable the built-in LED flashlight, which is located above the display between the watch bezel and the band:

When the flashlight is activated, it will use the last flashlight setting that was selected (strobe and distress pattern excluded). 


Flashlight Settings for General Use

These settings are general use of the flashlight outside of activities. For settings during activities, see the section below. 

  1. Press and hold LIGHT (upper left button) to access the Controls menu.
    NOTE: If Flashlight is not in the Controls menu, you will need to add it to access the settings - search your owner's manual for Customizing the Controls Menu for specific instructions.
  2. Select Flashlight Icon.
  3. The following options will be available:

    Brightness Levels

    Press UP or DOWN to adjust the brightness level.

    Secondary Color Light

    Press UP or DOWN until the separate bar at the bottom is selected. For most watches the secondary color is red, but for tactical watches the secondary color is green.

    Strobe and Distress Light Settings

    Press and hold UP/MENU then select an option:

    • Strobe - Allows you to choose from the below pattern modes:
      • Blink - The symbols at the top of the display represent the strobe pattern behavior.

      • Custom - After selecting the Custom option, select Pencil Icon to choose the light pattern, speed, and color. The symbols at the top of the display will represent the strobe pattern behavior.

      • Blitz - The symbols at the top of the display represent the strobe pattern behavior.

      • Beacon - The symbols at the top of the display represent the strobe pattern behavior.

      • Pulse - The symbols at the top of the display represent the strobe pattern behavior.

    • Distress Pattern - Displays your emergency contact information on the screen of the watch and programs the flashlight to flash in a distress pattern. The symbols at the top of the display represent the light pattern behavior.
      NOTE: Your emergency contact information will only appear if it has been configured in the Garmin Connect™ app.

    On/Off

    Press START to turn the flashlight on or off temporarily while staying in the flashlight settings.

Activities and App Settings

In addition to the options listed above, the flashlight can also be customized to use different light modes during certain activities. For example, it can be set to automatically activate a strobe light when running after sunset.

To adjust these settings:

  1. Hold UP/MENU (middle left button).

  2. Select Watch Settings.

  3. Select Activities or Activities & Apps.

  4. Select an activity.

  5. Select the activity settings.

  6. Select Flashlight Strobe, then select an option:

    • Status - Choose between Off, After Sunset, or On.

      NOTE: After Sunset will use the sunset time determined by the watch, and will continue until 30 minutes after sunrise.

    • Mode - Choose between Blink, Pulse, Beacon, Blitz, or Cadence.
