Comparing the Instinct Crossover Series with the Instinct 2 Series

The Instinct® Crossover series is a unique outdoor watch which combines digital smartwatch functionality with physical analog hands. Along with the analog hands, the bezel incorporates a glow-in-the-dark for the time markings. Unlike previous Instinct models, the Instinct Crossover series watches do not have the two window construction, with the smaller round dial window in the top right, and instead has a single 0.9 inch by 0.9 inch monochrome display. The series includes a Standard Edition, Solar Edition, and Solar Tactical Edition in a variety of color options.

Hardware and Size

The Instinct Crossover series watches include the same generation of heart rate sensor as the Instinct 2 series, which allows for underwater optical heart rate detection, respiration tracking, and Pulse Ox recording. Like all of our outdoor watches, it includes a barometric altimeter sensor, compass, and accelerometer. Like all Instincts, it can connect to GPS and either GLONASS or Galileo satellite networks for increased accuracy in positioning.

The Instinct Crossover series watches come in the 45 mm case size and is compatible with any of the QuickFit 22 or 22 mm Instinct or Instinct 2 watch bands. See Replacement Watch Bands for Garmin Instinct.

Training Features

The training features of the Instinct Crossover series are the same as the Instinct 2 series, but many appearance options have been adjusted to accommodate the watch's hands. When accessing the menus, glances, and activities the hands will shift to obstruct less of the screen, but in general watch mode the hands may cover some data fields on the watch face.

As with the Instinct 2 series, the Instinct Crossover can calculate a VO2 Max estimate, HRV Status, and Training Status. It is compatible with courses and workouts, and includes Golf features. See the Related for more information about these features.
