Verify the Date, Time, and Time Zone Settings on a Computer

In order for Garmin applications to successfully communicate with the Garmin servers, it is important that the date, time, and time zone settings are correct on the computer.

To Verify These Settings:


Windows Vista and Newer

1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard

2. Type timedate.cpl into the Run window and click OK

3. Click Change time zone...

4. Ensure that your correct time zone is selected

5. Click OK

6. Click Change date and time...

7. If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation

8. Ensure that the correct date is selected on the calendar

To change the month, click the arrows to the right or left of the month and year

9. Ensure that the time is set correctly

To adjust the time, click on the hours, minutes, or seconds and use the up and down arrows to make adjustments

10. Click OK

11. Click OK again


Mac OS X

1. Click the Apple icon in the menu bar

2. Click System Preferences

3. Click Date & Time

4. Click Time Zone

5. Verify Time Zone is correct

To adjust the Time Zone, click the map near the location and choose a city from the Closest City menu or check the Set time zone automatically using the current location box if available

6. Click Date & Time

7. Verify the Date & Time are correct or set automatically

To adjust the time, click on the hour, minutes, or seconds and use the up and down arrows to adjust the selected item

8. Close the Date & Time window

Once the date and time settings are set correctly, Garmin applications should be able to communicate with the Garmin servers.
