Networking Fusion® Apollo™ Stereos
Fusion® Apollo™ series stereos can connect to Wi-Fi using an Ethernet cable connected to a wireless router. Some Fusion Apollo stereos have Wi-Fi routers built into them, enabling wireless connection to a smart device or a Wi-Fi router. Internet access is not needed to connect via Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi connection to a Fusion Apollo stereo can be used to stream music via Apple Airplay or UPNP, update software, and grouping with other Fusion Apollo stereos. It is recommended to use Ethernet connections wherever possible as wired connections are the most reliable.
Configuring a Fusion Apollo stereo as a Wi-Fi Access Point
The MS-RA770 and the MS-SRX400 stereos can be set as Wi-Fi access points. This automatically configures the stereo as a DHCP server as well.
On the stereo, select the Menu icon
Select SETTINGS
Select NETWORK
Select WI-FI ACCESS POINT
Select ADVANCED
Select SSID and enter a name for the network
Select AP SECURITY
Select WPA2 PERSONAL
Select PASSWORD and enter a password that is at least 8 characters
Select SAVE
The stereo is now set up as a Wireless Access Point, and the SSID entered will show up as a Wi-Fi network on mobile devices or other MS-RA770 or MS-SRX400 stereos.
Connecting a Fusion Apollo stereo to a wireless router via Wi-Fi
These steps must be done from a stereo with a built-in Wi-Fi router and are for connecting to a wireless router or another Fusion Apollo stereo with a Wi-Fi router built in.
Connect the wireless router to power, obtain the SSID and password, and check that the stereo is within the router's range
On the stereo, select the Menu icon
Select SETTINGS
Select NETWORK
Select WI-FI CLIENT
Select SSID, then select the router's SSID from the list
Select PASSWORD and enter the password if the router has one, then select SAVE. If there is no password, select SAVE if not
The stereo will now be connected to the Wi-Fi network, allowing it to group with other stereos on the same network and receive AirPlay / UPNP audio from a connected smart device.
Connecting Fusion Apollo stereos via Ethernet
With multiple Fusion Apollo stereos connected, one stereo only on the network should be configured as a DHCP server. The easiest way to do this is to set the stereo as a Wi-Fi access point. If no Wi-Fi access to the stereo is desired, a different method can be used.
Note: If more than two stereos are being connected via Ethernet, the stereos will need to be connected to a separate network switch.
On the stereo, select the Menu icon
Select SETTINGS
Select NETWORK
Select WI-FI OFF
Select STATIC IP
Select SAVE
Select ADVANCED
Select DHCP SERVER
Select DHCP ENABLED to checkmark the box, then select SAVE
The rest of the connected stereos should be set as DHCP clients. This is the default setting for Fusion Apollo stereos.
On the stereo, select the Menu icon
Select SETTINGS
Select NETWORK
Select WI-FI OFF
Select DHCP CLIENT to check the box, then select SAVE
Note: These will create a simple and secure network for Fusion Apollo stereos. It is not a comprehensive guide on networking, and if more advanced configurations are desired it may be necessary to consult a network technician
