AM and FM Antenna Types for a Fusion® Stereo

There are two main types of antennas supplied for AM and FM reception in a marine environment.

The first is a ground-dependent antenna, which will connect to a large metal surface called a ground plane. If the boat has a metal hull, a ground-dependent antenna should be used.

The second is a ground-independent antenna, which does not require a metal surface. If the boat has a hull made of anything besides metal, a ground-independent antenna should be used.
