What is the Detour button for?
The Detour button is used to calculate a new route if possible to avoid something ahead of you. The device will take you off the current route and will attempt to get you back on your original route as quickly as possible.
If the route you are currently navigating is the only reasonable option according to your navigation settings, the device might not calculate a detour.
You also have the ability to use the Advanced Detour option.
To turn on Advanced Detour:
- Touch Settings
- Touch Navigation
- Touch Advanced Detours
The device is now set up for Advanced Detours. Repeat these steps to turn this feature off.
The Detour button can be touched on the map tool under View Map, it will give the following detour options:
- 1/2 Mile
- 2 Miles
- 5 Miles
- Detour By Road(s) in Route
The 1/2 Mile, 2 Miles, and 5 Miles option will navigate you off the route for the selected distance.
The Detour By Road(s) on Route option will provide a list of the roads along your route that you can select to specifically detour around.
If you would like to add Detour as a map button, you can customize which buttons will appear on the right-hand side of the View Map screen.
To customize the map buttons on a compatible device:
- Touch Settings
- Touch Map & Vehicle
- Touch Map Buttons
- Touch the map button to remove
- The maximum number of buttons allowed is three for most devices. The zumo 350 and zumo 390's maximum is two.
- Touch an empty button (displays as a +)
- Touch the desired map button
- Touch Save once the desired buttons have been set
- Touch Cancel to discard changes and use the current map buttons
- Touch Reset to Defaults to return to the default map buttons
The map buttons are now set to your preference.
