Resolving inReach Account Creation Error: "The specified user could not be found, or the user identifier does not belong to the owner."

If you receive the following error during account creation, it means that you are already logged into a Garmin account and you will need to log out before continuing with account creation. 

  • Error: The specified user could not be found, or the user identifier does not belong to the owner.

Resolving the Error

  1. Select Garmin Explore Default Profile Icon (or your profile image) in the top right of the page.

  2. Select Sign Out.

  3. After signing out of your account, follow the steps in How to Activate an inReach Device on the Garmin Explore Website and wait to sign in until prompted.
