Why The GPSMAP 196 or GPSMAP 296 May No Longer Record the Number of Landings Made

Because Garmin® portable aviation systems are used in different types of airborne transportation, Garmin was unable to develop a formula (using only GPS) that accurately determined the number of landings.  As the existing landing function was almost always incorrect, the landing function was removed from the software.
