Database Missing in XMap 7 or Earlier
If you are unable to select a database when creating a new GIS layer or importing GIS data, use the following steps to activate your database.
Note: XMap® Desktop Software has been discontinued. Support is now provided through documentation in the Support Center. XMap data format has not.
- Open XMap program.
- Select the GIS tab.
- Select Workspace.
- Select DB Manager. The Database Manager will open.
- If you do not see your server listed; on the toolbar, select Server, then New Connection.
- In the Server field, type the server location\the instance name, for example (LOCAL)\XMAP7 which is the default. Then, select Windows Authentication and select Connect. The server should now be listed in the DB Manager.
- Expand the server list to view the databases. If you do not see a database, select Database
New.
- In the Database Name field, type in a name for your database. Select the Schema drop-down list and choose XMAP7. Select OK.
- Right-click on the database and select Activate.
- Close the Database Manager and try using the GIS tab again.
