Customizing Android Text Responses in the Garmin Connect App

Many Garmin devices allow you to auto reply to a text message or an incoming call when paired to an Android phone. This feature is not available with Apple phones. Text reply and phone call decline messages can feature a custom response on some models.  These text response message can be customized using the Garmin Connect app.  Using this feature  will send a text message using your phone. Regular text message limits and charges from your carrier and phone plan may apply.

NOTE: Contact names that contain an emoji or special character will not have the option to reply from the device. Not all apps are supported by all watch models.

Select the following to reveal a list of devices that support this feature.

Creating a New Response

1. Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone

2. Select the  menu icon

3. Select Garmin Devices

4. Select your device

5. Select Text Responses

   • If you do not see Text Responses as an option, it will be under another setting such as Device Settings > Notification Alerts  or Sound & Alerts or Notifications

6. Select Respond to Messages (or Text Response) or Respond to Incoming Calls (or Incoming Call Response)

7. Select '+' in the top right of the app to create a new message

8. Type your new message using up to 140 characters

9. Touch Save and sync your watch

Editing a Response Message

1. Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone

2. Select the menu icon

3. Select Garmin Devices

4. Select your device from the screen

5. Select Text Responses

   • If you do not see Text Responses as an option, it will be under another setting such as Device Settings > Notification Alerts or Sound & Alerts or Notifications

6. Select Respond to Messages (or Text Response) or Respond to Incoming Calls (or Incoming Call Response)

7. Touch the - (minus symbol) to remove messages or + (plus symbol) to add them, or you can touch on the text of a message to edit it

8. Touch Save and sync your watch
