DEM Shading or 3D Course Viewing Capabilities for Approach Units

Some of the Approach® series golf devices are capable of displaying a Digital Elevation Model (DEM), or 3D representation, of each hole on a course. DEM maps account for the elevation change between a golfer's location and the intended target location, providing the adjusted playing distance for uphill and downhill shots.

Currently, only the Approach G7 and G8 golf handhelds feature DEM course mapping capabilities. DEM shading and 3D viewing is not offered on additional Approach models in order to keep in compliance with USGA and R&A tournament play guidelines.
