Rino Devices and Marine VHF Radios
Certain Rino® outdoor handhelds* come with NOAA weather radio stations included on the device. These NOAA stations are used to monitor any local severe weather, and operate on the 162MHz frequency.
Marine VHF radios transmit a powerful signal on specific frequencies up to 161MHz. Due to the open frequency range that is not filtered by the Rino handheld, it is possible that a VHF radio broadcast near these Rino handhelds could cause the Rino handheld to fail. Because of this potential failure, it is not recommended that these Rino handhelds be used near marine VHF radios.
*This includes the Rino 130, 530, 530HCx, 610, 650, 650t, 655t, 750 and 755t.
