Syncing inReach Account Changes with the Earthmate App for Android

The Earthmate app, your inReach, and your explore.garmin.com account all work in conjunction for you to access your user data (waypoints, routes, tracks1, contacts, etc.) while you are in the field. It is important to sync your device and Earthmate app before going into the field.

  • Always verify that the data you want is in the Earthmate app, and on your inReach before you set out on your adventure.
  • To sync with Explore Website changes a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection is required and the compatible inReach handheld must be powered on and paired.

1 Tracks will sync to Earthmate and explore.garmin.com from the inReach, but won't sync back to Earthmate from explore.garmin.com


IMPORTANT

For items to sync properly between your device your inReach must be paired with the Earthmate app. For information, see - Pairing Instructions for Earthmate Compatible inReach Devices

Verifying Your inReach is Paired
  1. Open the Earthmate app


  2. Touch
  3. Select My inReach
  4. You should see Device Connected
    Note:

Syncing Data and Account Changes Between explore.garmin.com and Earthmate


Syncs between Earthmate and inReach devices will occur automatically while the two are paired and connected. If this doesn't appear to be happening, or you wish to speed up the process, you can also sync manually with the steps below.

  1. Open the Earthmate app


  2. Touch 

  3. Touch Sync
    Note: You may need to to add an account to sync. If so, follow these steps: 

    1. Select Add Account
    2. Input email and password, and select Log On


A pop-up will say it is syncing with inreach.garmin.com account, and disappear when the sync is complete.

Make sure to repeat this process every time a change is made to the data stored at explore.garmin.com, on the inReach, or the Earthmate app.
 

My inReach isn't Receiving Data or Account Changes after Syncing


If data or account changes don't transfer to the inReach after syncing with the steps above, try closing and reopening Earthmate, and also powering the inReach off and on. This helps to refresh the connection between Earthmate and the device for syncing purposes.
