Battery Type Settings on the Astro 320 and Astro 430 handhelds

The Astro® 320 and Astro® 430 operate on 2 AA batteries (not included), with NiMH or Lithium batteries being more optimal choices. When using Alkaline, Rechargeable NiMH, or Lithium batteries in the Astro handheld, it may be necessary to change the battery type settings for the most accurate battery level indication.

NOTE: When using the Garmin NiMH Battery Pack, the AA Battery Type options are overridden and removed from the System menu (see Recharging the Garmin Ni-MH Battery Pack in a compatible Outdoor Handheld for more details)

  1. Hold the Power Button.
  2. Select Setup.
  3. Select System.
  4. Select Battery Type.
  5. Select Alkaline, Lithium, or Rechargeable NiMH.
