Full Reset of the inReach Mini

In most cases we recommend using the reset method found in the device menu by selecting Setup > Recovery Options > Restore Defaults. In some instances this may not be possible, such as:

• inReach® Mini satellite communicator is in the wrong language

• Issues getting the unit to power on correctly

If you need to reset your inReach Mini and are unable to use the normal Restore Defaults method, follow the steps below.

To Factory Restore the inReach Mini

NOTE: If your inReach Mini has been paired with the Earthmate® app, you will need to pair it again after completing the factory restore. For pairing instructions, see - Pairing Instructions for Earthmate Compatible inReach Devices

1. Power off the inReach Mini.

2. Press and hold Back, Down and Power.

3. Once a USB icon and Gear Icon appear on the screen, let go of all buttons. 

4. Lift the protective cap from the SOS button.

5. Press and hold SOS until the device displays Applying Update, then let go. The device will power off after several seconds. 

6. Power the device back on and choose the correct language when prompted.

7. The device will start the activation setup wizard:

   1. Take the device outside and ensure that it has a clear view of the sky.

   2. Select Activate, even if the device has previously been activated.

   3. Select OK.

   4. Select OK again.

   5. Wait for the device to finish confirming activation. Depending on your location and your surroundings, this may only take a matter of seconds, or it may take up to 30 minutes.
