Update and Learn about Software for the Descent X50i Dive Computer

Garmin releases software updates periodically to ensure that you get the best performance and latest features on your device. Changes are listed in the What’s New? section below. Methods for updating software are described below.

What's New?

System Software January 2025 Release Notes Version 2.06

NOTE: This software update will start rolling out week of January 13th 2025.

• [In-Dive Change] Added the Map tool in dive, available in the menu.
  
• [In-Dive Change] Added color to the ascent rate, diluent PO2, and current gas PO2 data fields when in a warning state.
  
• Added support for labelling depth/time alerts with a customizable message.
  
• Added surface shortcuts, including the ability lock the touchscreen and buttons.
  
• Added additional in-dive shortcuts, including button lock and bookmark.
  
• Added the ability to configure a set of favorite SubWave messages.
  
• Added the tissue load bar chart data field.
  
• Added the ability to manually set the device's time zone.
  
• Improved the display of events in the Dive Log.
  
• Improved the display of dive logs synced from other Garmin dive computers.
  
• Improved the surface map/navigation experience.
  
• Improved Check for Updates to prefer Wi-Fi for faster downloads.
  
• Improved marked waypoints to have additional fields, such as elevation and a custom note.
  
• Improved the look of the Start Dive button on the home screen to make it less cluttered.

Descent™ Transmitter Software Updates

If you have a Descent T1 or T2 transmitter, software updates for the transmitter get sent to the dive computer and then can be applied to the transmitter. The changes for transmitter software updates are noted in the dive computer software change logs, see the What's New Change Log section above. Installing Software Updates

Garmin Dive™ App

The Garmin Dive app will download software updates automatically behind the scenes while your device is connected to your mobile phone. There are no steps required for you to take to get the latest software. Generally, any released updates will take up to a week to download before automatically, or prompting, to install on your device.

Garmin Express™ Software

Garmin Express software provides the ability to check for, and download, software updates each time you connect your device to the computer.
