Changing the Profile Name and Image for Garmin Messenger Garmin Explore or Earthmate

The name and profile image displayed in the Garmin Messenger™ app, Garmin Explore™ app, Earthmate® app, and the Garmin Explore™ website can be customized. Garmin uses the same account login information across multiple websites, apps, and services. Due to this connectivity between platforms, changes made to the name and profile image in Garmin Connect™ Web or the Garmin Connect™ app will also be reflected in the Garmin Messenger app, Garmin Explore app, Earthmate app, and the Garmin Explore website. For steps on changing the name or profile image, select a platform below.

Changing Name or Icon on Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Profile & Privacy.

  5. Update your name in the field at the top of the page.

  6. Tap the profile image and select an Image Source. 

  7. Select the back arrow to save changes.

Your name and icon have now been successfully updated in your account.


Changing Name or Icon on Garmin Connect Web

  1. Visit https://connect.garmin.com/signin

  2. Enter the same login credentials you use for the Garmin Explore app, then select Sign In.

  3. Select Profile & Account in the top right corner:

  4. Select Account Settings.

  5. Select Public Profile.

  6. Change the name to what you prefer, then scroll down and select Save at the bottom of the page.

Your name and icon have now been successfully updated in your account.


Signing Out and Back In to the Garmin Explore App

  1. Open the Garmin Explore app on your mobile device.

  2. Select the profile icon in the top left.

  3. Select Sign Out in the top right.

  4. Select Sign Out again when prompted.

  5. This should return you to the home page.

    • It may now display the preferred name you changed to. If so, select Continue. If not, select Sign In.

  6. Follow the prompts to sign back in.

It should now display your preferred name in the Garmin Explore app.


Signing Out and Back in to the Garmin Messenger App

  1. Open the Garmin Messenger app on your mobile device. 
  2. Select the profile icon on the top left. 
  3. Select Accounts
  4. Select Manage Garmin Account
  5. Select Sign Out
  6. Select Sign Out again when prompted.

  7. Select Sign In.

    • It may now display the preferred name you changed to. If so, select Continue. If not, select Sign In.

  8. Follow the prompts to sign back in.


Signing Out and Back in to the Earthmate App

  1. Open the Earthmate app on your mobile device.

  2. Select Three horizontal lines (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).

  3. Select Account and Sync.

  4. Select Sign Out.

  5. Select Sign Out again when prompted.

  6. Select Earthmate Profile Icon

  7. Select Sign In.

    • It may now display the preferred name you changed to. If so, select Continue. If not, select Sign In.

  8. Follow the prompts to sign back in.
