My Approach S62 Is Not Recognized By Computer

The Approach S62 appears as a drive on your computer, allowing easy access to data on the watch and to be recognized by Garmin programs. Occasionally, the watch may not appear as a drive. The following steps can be performed to get the watch to be recognized.

NOTE: The Approach S62 is a Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) device which does not show as a drive on a Mac. Garmin Express can still read the watch to sync data and perform updates.

Forcing Watch Connection With Computer

  1. Ensure watch battery is fully charged.
  2. Power watch off.
  3. Press and hold the Back Button.
  4. Plug watch into computer.
    NOTE: Continue to hold the Back Button.
  5. Wait until watch is recognized by computer.
    NOTE: It may take up to 30 seconds for watch to be recognized as a drive.
  6. If prompted, install USB device drivers.
  7. Release the Back Button.
