Syncing, Adding, and Deleting Garmin Explore App Data on the zūmo XT GPS Navigator

The Garmin Explore™ account is an intermediary tool for creating, deleting, and transferring data to and from the zūmo® XT GPS navigator.
You must connect to the Garmin Drive™ app and enable Garmin Explore to sync your Garmin Explore Account data with the zūmo XT. See Pairing the zūmo XT with the Garmin Drive App for instructions or see the videos below.

You will need to use the email address from your Garmin Explore account when signing in to the Garmin Drive app. The zūmo XT will not pair to the Garmin Explore app on your smartphone. However, you may download the Garmin Explore app on your smartphone to make edits to your data. 

If Garmin Explore was not enabled when the zumo XT was paired to the Drive app, it can be enabled at a later time by following the steps below.


To Enable Garmin Explore

  1. Touch Where To?

To Verify a New Data Sync on the zūmo XT GPS Navigator

When additional data is added to the Garmin Explore app, it will sync with the zūmo XT via the cloud. To verify the latest data sync was successful follow the steps below.

  1. Touch Where To?

  2. Touch Explore.

  3. Check the upper left hand corner of the screen to see the date and time of the last sync with Garmin Explore.

Sending a GPX File from the Garmin Drive App to the zūmo XT GPS navigator

Syncing the data in the cloud from the Garmin Explore app is the recommended method of transferring the files to the zūmo XT. If it is not possible to access an internet connection to sync the data from the Garmin Explore app on your phone, you can share the gpx file first to the Garmin Drive app and then send it directly to the zūmo XT as long as you are connected to the Garmin Drive app via Bluetooth. 

  1. Open the Garmin Explore app.

  2. Touch Saved.

  3. Select an activity or collection you want to sync, or scroll down to All Items and select a waypoint, course, route, or track to sync.

  4. For activities or collections, select Share. For waypoints, courses, routes, or tracks, select Three Dots in a Box, then select Share.

  5. Select the Garmin Drive app.

  6. Touch Send.

  7. A notification will appear on the zūmo XT verifying the file was sent successfully. Touch OK to dismiss the notification.

The Garmin Explore website and Garmin Explore app will wirelessly sync data with each other and the zūmo XT. Data from the Garmin Explore account cannot be created or deleted from the zūmo XT itself. Information that is added or deleted from the Garmin Explore account from the website or app will then be added or removed from the zūmo XT the next time it syncs to the Garmin Drive app. If your smartphone does not have an active internet connection, it will not be able to sync.
