Maximum capacity Garmin Data Card for use with compatible devices

Garmin sold Garmin Data Cards with capacities between 8MB and 512MB. Unfortunately, older Garmin devices are not able to use the larger size of cards. Refer to the list below for the maximum data card capacity for each device. These capacities are for devices running their latest software versions; devices running outdated software might not be able to read the largest card indicated.

A device can read a software update from a Garmin data card, based on the size card it will read for mapping. If a software update is ordered from Garmin, it will ship on a 512MB card as smaller capacities are no longer available.

• GPSMAP 172/172c and 178/178c: 128MB
• GPSMAP 176/176c: 128MB
• GPSMAP 182/182c and 188/188c: 128MB
• GPSMAP 192c or 198c: 128MB
• GPSMAP 2xxx Series: 128MB
• GPSMAP 21xx Series: Read and write user data to a 128MB and read mapping from a 512MB
• GPSMAP 22xx Series: Read and write user data to a 128MB and read mapping from a 512MB
• GPSMAP 3xxx Series: Read and write user data to a 128MB and read mapping from a 512MB
• GPSMAP 232 or 238: 128MB
• GPSMAP 292/298, 392/398, 492/498: 512MB
• GPSMAP 276c, 376, 378, 478: 512MB
