Updating Emergency Notes or Contacts on an inReach Account

Emergency Notes is a good place to add information for any known medical concerns, or other details that could be helpful in the event that the SOS feature on your inReach® device needs to be used. If you have additional coverage for medical evacuation or search and rescue, you can include that and how the Garmin Response™ center can get in contact with the company providing that service. Example:

Emergency contacts can be edited, but cannot be deleted. It is required to have two emergency contacts saved on the account. If activating an SOS on the inReach device, as part of the process, Garmin Response center will contact the people listed as emergency contacts.


Updating Emergency Notes or Contacts on the Garmin Explore™ Website

  1. Log into your account on the Garmin Explore™ website.

  2. Select ACCOUNT.

    NOTE: On mobile browsers, select Two Horizontal Lines Icon in the top left, then ACCOUNT.

  3. Select Edit next to your name.

    • If you do not see this option, select My Info.

  4. Select EDIT.

  5. Make any necessary changes to your name, country of residence or citizenship, address, or phone number.

  6. Select the EMERGENCY NOTES field and enter the desired information, then select NEXT.

  7. Update or change the contact information under PRIMARY CONTACT and SECONDARY CONTACT as needed, then select NEXT.

  8. Review your changes, then scroll down and select UPDATE.

  9. Select CLOSE once you see UPDATE COMPLETE.


Updating Emergency Notes or Contacts in the Garmin Messenger™ App

NOTE: The following process only works with Garmin Messenger app compatible devices.

  1. Open the Garmin Messenger app.

  2. Select Device.

    • If Device is not displayed at the bottom of the app, you will need to pair your inReach.

  3. Select your current plan type below the picture of your inReach device.

  4. Select Emergency Information.

  5. Sign in again, if prompted.

  6. Scroll down and select EDIT.

  7. Make any necessary changes to your name, country of residence or citizenship, address, or phone number.

  8. Select the EMERGENCY NOTES field and enter the desired information, then select NEXT.

  9. Update or change the contact information under PRIMARY CONTACT and SECONDARY CONTACT as needed, then select NEXT.

  10. Review your changes, then scroll down and select UPDATE.

  11. Select CLOSE once you see UPDATE COMPLETE.


Updating Emergency Notes or Contacts in the Earthmate® App

NOTE: The following process only works with Earthmate Compatible inReach Devices.

  1. Open the Earthmate app.

  2. Select Three horizontal lines (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).

  3. Select My inReach.

  4. Select Manage Subscription.

  6. Sign in again, if prompted.

  7. Scroll down and select EDIT.

  8. Make any necessary changes to your name, country of residence or citizenship, address, or phone number.

  9. Select the EMERGENCY NOTES field and enter the desired information, then select NEXT.

  10. Update or change the contact information under PRIMARY CONTACT and SECONDARY CONTACT as needed, then select NEXT.

  11. Review your changes, then scroll down and select UPDATE.

  12. Select CLOSE once you see UPDATE COMPLETE.
