Location of Map Files on a Monterra

The Monterra™ outdoor handheld has a similar file structure of other Garmin devices. The Monterra handheld's map files will be loaded to the Garmin folder. All mapping will be stored in the Garmin folder regardless if it is downloadable content or sent to the device by mapping programs like MapInstall™ .

NOTE: To access the Garmin folder, the Monterra must be connected to a Windows computer. The Monterra will not appear as a separate drive on Mac computers.

  1. Connect the Garmin device to the computer.

  2. Press the Windows key + E on the keyboard to open Windows Explorer/File Explorer.

  3. Select This PC (Windows 10 & 11 only).

  4. Open the Monterra drive listed.

  5. Open Internal Storage.

  6. Open the Garmin folder.
