Managing Dash Cam Videos from an Android Device with the Garmin Drive App

You can view, save, share, or delete dash cam videos and pictures taken from your compatible device on your Android phone using the Garmin Drive™ app. For instructions to connect your device with the Garmin Drive™ app see: Setting up/Pairing the Garmin Drive App Traffic on an Android Phone

To View a Video/Photo:

 1. Launch the Garmin Drive app.

2. Touch Videos and Photos. When prompted to join the dash cam's Wi-Fi network, touch Connect.

 

3. Tap the select icon to choose what categories are displayed, then select the desired video or photo.  

To Delete, Trim, Export, Upload or Share a Video or Photo:

 1. Select the desired video or photo in the Garmin Drive™ app.  

 

You can delete videos or photos by touching and holding the video or photo and then touching the  Trash icon.

2. Select Connect to connect to Wi-Fi.

 

3. Trim the video as desired by touching and dragging the arrows on either side of the timeline. Skip this step for photos.  

 

4. Touch Export.  Skip this step for photos.  The app will prepare the video for upload to your phone and to the Garmin Vault.  Keep the Garmin Drive app in the foreground during this process.

  • Export can take several minutes, depending on the length of the clip
  • When finished, it will display, Export Complete
  • The video or photo will upload to the Garmin Vault when connected to an active Wi-Fi connection or via your smartphone's cellular connection when this feature is enabled.  This takes some time and is not immediate.  See:   How to Enable/Disable the Vault for the Garmin Dash Cam Device.

 

5. If desired, select Save to Phone to add videos to your camera roll.   

 

  •  The option to Open in Photos will be available.  

 

6. To share your video or photo:

  • Go to your Photos on your phone, select the desired video or photo, select your phone's share icon and select the desired sharing options your phone displays.
  • Go to the Garmin Vault, select Secure Share, and follow the prompts.  See Using the Vault Storage with a Garmin Dash Cam Device for more information.
