Viewing Topo Maps When Multiple Maps are Loaded to a Montana 700i, 710i, 750i, or 760i

The Montana® 700i, 710i, 750i, and 760i outdoor handhelds have a feature called Automatic Maps.

When you start a route, Automatic Maps allows your Montana handheld to automatically use the most appropriate preloaded map to match the route activity. Automotive and Motorcycle route activities use the City Navigator® map, and all other route activities use the TopoActive map.

NOTE: This feature is designed to work best with the preloaded mapping in the Montana handheld. Adding other Garmin maps or third-party maps may prevent this feature from working as intended. In those situations, enable/disable the desired maps.

Disabling Automatic Maps

Automatic Maps is toggled on by default, but it can be disabled with the steps below. If you disable this feature, you need to manually enable/disable the desired maps.

If you are unable to follow the steps below, ensure the device software is up to date. For instructions, see - Installing Software Updates to the Montana 700 Series.

  1. Select Home to access the main menu.

  2. Select Map Manager.

    • NOTE: This option can also be accessed from the map page by selecting 3 Lines Menu Symbol, then Map Setup.

  3. Touch Automatic Maps to toggle it off.

    • Toggle Up: Automatic Maps is toggled on.

    • Toggle Down: Automatic Maps is toggled off.

Automatic Maps is now disabled. Return to the Map Manager option to manually enabled/disable the desired maps when needed.

Important

When multiple detailed maps are loaded to a handheld, they fall into a specific hierarchy. City Navigator maps at the top, and Topo maps below. This causes Topo maps to not be visible unless City Navigator map is disabled.
