FINDCONTROLLER.CPP Error in BaseCamp

The FINDCONTROLLER.CPP error in BaseCamp™ software is caused by file corruption in the cache folders. The corruption may have resulted from the application quitting unexpectedly or a system power outage. This error can be resolved by deleting a specific BaseCamp folder.

To Delete the BaseCamp Folder, Follow the Instructions Based on the Operating System.

Windows XP:

    1. Press Windows key + R
    2. Type %userprofile% in the text box
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Local Settings folder
      • The Local Settings folder may be hidden. See the instructions provided by Microsoft on displaying hidden files and folders in this article: To display hidden files and folders.
    5. Open the Application Data folder
    6. Open the Garmin folder
    7. Right Click the BaseCamp folder
    8. Click Delete
    9. Click Yes to confirm

Windows Vista and Newer:

    1. Press Windows key + R
    2. Type %localappdata% in the text box
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Right Click the BaseCamp folder
    6. Click Delete or the trash can icon
    7. Click Yes to confirm

Once the folder has been removed BaseCamp software should open without the error message.
