GPSMAP Displays a Cardinal Direction Instead of Left or Right When in Automotive Mode

If you have a GPSMAP® 296, GPSMAP® 396, or GPSMAP® 496 that says the turn is a Cardinal direction (North, South, East, West) instead of Left or Right, it is operating correctly. The reason you get the Cardinal direction instead of left or right is because the unit is operating on the base map and not with detailed maps. If the unit is on the base map sometimes, it can not determine left or right since it is lacking detail, it will then substitute Cardinal Directions.
