Maximum Download Size for BirdsEye Satellite Imagery
BirdsEye Satellite Imagery are composed of small "tiles" of aerial pictures.
How large an image you can download at one time is based on the number of tiles it consists of, rather than a specific file size. The BirdsEye servers have limitations in place so they can continue to perform effectively for all users.
As each tile is not the same size, we can only provide an approximate maximum size per individual download:
Detail Level1 | Download Size | Approximate Square Mileage Covered |
Highest | 232 MB | 95 square miles |
High | 327 MB | 380 square miles |
Standard | 173 MB | 6030 square miles |
Note: The figures provided above are only estimates and may vary depending on the available imagery.
Even though the maximum for Standard is a smaller download size, it encompasses more of an area than High or Highest, but at a lower resolution.
As the image sizes are limited, it is suggested to only download as many individual images needed to achieve the desired area. For example, instead of trying to download imagery for an entire state, only download the actual hunting area you will be visiting.
1You can change the detail level during the download process in BaseCamp™ software. For most users, High is the ideal balance of resolution and size.
