Deleting Archive Files
Devices that record a trip log will archive these tracks or trip logs in the internal storage of the device. If you travel across great distances, these files can end up being quite large. To delete the archive files in your device's internal storage you would need to connect your device to a computer.
NOTE: Clearing any trip logs on the device itself will not delete the archived trip logs in the device's internal storage.
To Delete Archived Trip Log Files:
Windows
- Connect the device to a computer
- Click on the Start button
- Click on My Computer, Computer, or File Explorer
- Press Windows key + E (Windows 8, 10, 11)
- Click on This PC (Windows 10 and 11 only)
- Double click to open the Garmin or Garmin nüvi drive
- Open the GPX folder
- Some devices will require you to open the Garmin folder
- Open the Archive folder
- Delete the contents of this folder
Mac
- Connect the device to a computer
- Double click to open the GARMIN drive
- Open the GPX folder
- Some devices will require you to open the Garmin folder first
- Open the Archive folder
- Delete the contents of this folder
- Empty the contents of the Trash
The archive files will now be deleted.
If the error 'Memory Full' message remains after doing the steps above, perform a master reset.
NOTE: A master reset will erase all favorites2 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. To back up the favorites to the computer before performing a master reset, see Backing up, Restoring, or Transferring Saved Data on Garmin Automotive Devices .
To Perform a Master Reset:
- Start with the device OFF and unplugged from power
- Press and hold the lower right-hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen
- Power on the device while continuing to hold the display
- Remove your finger from the touchscreen when "Do you really want to erase all user data?" appears
- Touch Yes
- If text language is not in English, this is the button on the right
The device will now reset. Follow the on-screen prompts and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.
2Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.
