Dog Tracking Handheld is Not Recognized by a Computer

Try the following steps when your dog tracking handheld is not recognized by the computer to backup user data, install software updates, or delete files.

  • Remove any Y-splitting charger cables from the connection with the computer
  • If prompted to go into BaseStation mode, answer "No"
  • If prompted to enter  Mass Storage mode, answer "Yes"
  • Try a different USB cable
  • Try a different USB port on the computer
  • Restart the computer
  • Try a different computer

Forcing the Handheld Device into Mass Storage Mode

Try the following when a handheld device fails to appear as a drive on the computer:

  1. Disconnect the device from the computer.
  2. Power the device off.
  3. Press and hold the appropriate button for your handheld model:
    • Alpha® 100, Alpha 200, Alpha 200i, Alpha 200 Plus, Alpha 300, Alpha 300i , or Atemos 100: Power.
    • Astro® models, Atemos 50, or Alpha 50: Up.
  4. Plug the device into the computer.
  5. Wait until the device is recognized by the computer (this may take up to 30 seconds).
    • If prompted, install USB device drivers.
  6. Release the held button when the unit appears as a drive.
