Echo fishfinder goes into demo mode

If the echo series device powers on in demo mode (sometimes called simulator mode), this is an indication that the device does not recognize that a transducer is connected upon power up.

Ensure the transducer was correctly connected before powering on the echo. If the echo was powered on before the transducer was connected, power the echo off, then back on.

If the echo has a 5-inch display and is still in demo mode, an additional check can be made:

  1. Disconnect all cables from the back of the echo
  2. Completely remove the echo from the mount and the back mounting plate
  3. Correctly line up and connect the transducer cable to the echo's transducer port
  4. Once the transducer cable has been connected, connect the power cable to the echo's power cable port
  5. Power on the echo

If the echo device functions properly, this is a good indication the transducer cable was not pushed through the back mounting plate far enough to make a connection during installation. Return the echo back to the mount and reconnect the cables, making sure the transducer cable is pushed through the mount enough to allow for a good connection.

If the above steps do not resolve the issue and the device stays in demo mode, the transducer may need to be replaced.
