What is Garmin Coach for Strength Training?

Garmin Coach offers a variety of adaptive and prebuilt plans for running, cycling and strength training. Garmin Coach strength training plans give you a variety of options for increasing strength, building muscle or getting fitter. You’ll receive different plan recommendations based on your goals, the muscles you want to work, the equipment you have available and more. Once you choose a plan and start training, you can view all the details of the plan in your Garmin Connect™ account.

Setting up a Strength Training Garmin Coach Plan

To set up a Garmin Coach plan for strength training you can use either the Garmin Connect app, or Garmin Connect website.


Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More in the bottom right.

  3. Select Training & Planning.

  4. Select Garmin Coach Plans.

  5. Select Gain Strength.

  6. Follow the on screen prompts to customize your plan.


Garmin Connect Web

  1. From a web browser sign into your Garmin Connect account. 

  2. Select Training & Planning from the navigation bar on the left.

  3. Select Garmin Coach Plans.

  4. Select Gain Strength.

  5. Follow the on screen prompts to customize your plan.


Can I Reschedule a Workout?

If you miss a workout or physically skip a workout in your strength training plan, future workouts in the plan will adjust automatically to keep you on track for your goal. If you skip several workouts, you may receive a message asking if you want to pause the strength training plan and pick it up again at a later date. Once a workout has been missed or skipped, it cannot be rescheduled since strength training plans are designed to adapt automatically.

If you know ahead of time that you will not be able to complete your next scheduled workout, you can reschedule it from the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Connect website.


Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More.

  3. Select Training & Planning.

  4. Select Garmin Coach Plans.

  5. Select your active strength training plan.

  6. Select the workout to reschedule.

  7. Select three black dots arranged vertically.

  8. Select Reschedule.

  9. Select an available day to move the workout.

  10. Select Reschedule.

  11. Sync your device.


Garmin Connect Web

  1. From a web browser, sign into your Garmin Connect account.

  2. Select Calendar.

  3. Drag and drop the workout that you want to reschedule.

  4. Sync your device with the Garmin Connect app.
