Factory Reset for D2, fenix, fenix 2, and tactix

There are a few instances in which a reset on fenix, fenix 2, tactix or D2 may need to be performed.

When to perform a factory (or also known as master) reset:

  • Not receiving a satellite signal
  • Restoring the factory default settings
  • Not functioning properly

If the watch has frozen, locked up or become unresponsive, holding Power for approximately 15 seconds should allow the device to power off. If the device continues to freeze up, refer to the related article "Outdoor Wearable Freezes, Reboots, or Won't Power on".

Performing a master reset can cause data loss. Please see related content for information on how to back up or remove user data*.

Performing a Master Reset

  1. Ensure watch is powered off
  2. Press and hold Down button
  3. Power on GPS while continuing to hold Down button
  4. Release Down button once "Clear all user settings?" message appears
  5. Select Yes

The reset is successful if the device finishes powering up and goes to the setup wizard. Try the steps again if the setup wizard does not appear.

Following the reset, set the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
