Recording an Activity on the Montana 700 Series
The Montana® 700 series outdoor handheld devices use the Recording Controls feature to start and stop an activity, view associated data (such as elevation and elapsed time/distance), and perform a TracBack.
What is an Activity vs Tracking?
Activities are recorded coordinates (or breadcrumbs) connected together, and their associated data (elevation, time, distance, etc). This is for the benefit of the device user to record and review their own activities.
Tracking is for the inReach® satellite communication capable Montana 700i, 710i, 750i, and 760i handhelds only. Tracks are coordinates connected together that can be uploaded in real-time to a MapShare™ trip tracking page with an active inReach® subscription. This is for the benefit of others to follow along while the tracking is in progress. For steps, see - Starting and Stopping Tracking on the Montana 700i/750i.
Using Recording Controls
You can access the track data and recording controls by tapping the power button or swiping down from the top of the screen, then selecting the current activity recording. The track data and recording controls can also be found in the main menu under Recorded Activities > Current Activity.
When accessed, there are four icons that can be selected at the top of the page. These icons give you specific information or actions for the current activity. Selecting from each of these pages will also provide different options.
