inReach 1.7.2 Firmware Update Release Notes

The inReach® satellite communicator 1.7.2 firmware update provides inReach for Android and inReach for Smartphones satellite communicators with newer features and capabilities.

IMPORTANT

The inReach 1.7.2 firmware update does not enable inReach for Android satellite communicators to pair with iOS.

Only inReach for Smartphone satellite communicators can pair with both Android and iOS.

The inReach 1.7.2 firmware update will delete a custom battery setting and the mobile device pairing on the inReach device. After the firmware update is completed make sure to re-pair the inReach unit to the mobile device it is to be used with and reset the battery profile if using alkaline or NiMH batteries.

New Features and Functionality

  • Expanded track point and message speed and altitude limits

Speed reporting range is now 0 to 515 meters/sec (1,854 km/h or 1,152mph). Altitude range is now -500 to 18,000 meters (-1,640 to 59,055 feet)
  • Added support for new Iridium modem firmware

New units with Iridium firmware rev ‘E’ are now supported.

  • Expanded support for Enterprise customer features

Fixes

  • Fixed issue which causes the power LED to indicate inReach has no power under certain circumstances.

If the inReach was powered on into pairing mode immediately out of the box, and then not paired, the power LED could indicate that the batteries were completely exhausted.

  • When inReach reconnects to app, battery status was sometimes misreported as “No Power”.

Note: Only applies to the inReach for Android satellite communicator.
