Enabling WAAS on GPSMAP 4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx, or 7xxx Series Chartplotters

The GPSMAP 4000, 5000, 6000, and 7000 series chartplotters have the ability to use a few different antennas to acquire the GPS and Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) signals.

Toggling WAAS for NMEA 2000 Antennas

1. With the device powered ON, press the Home button
2. Choose Configure
3. Choose Communications
4. Choose NMEA 2000 Setup
5. Choose Device List
6. Highlight the Garmin GPS17x - NMEA2000 or Garmin GPS19x - NMEA 2000
7. Choose Review
8. Choose WAAS/EGNOS
9. Choose On or Off

Toggling WAAS for HVS Antennas

1. With the device powered ON, press the Home button
2. Choose Configure
3. Choose Communications
4. Choose NMEA 0183 Setup
5. Choose Serial GPS
6. Choose WAAS/EGNOS
7. Choose On or Off

By enabling the WAAS feature, the GPS accuracy will improve. For more information about the GPS device or the antenna, please refer to the Installation Manual of the chartplotter.
