What is Garmin Move IQ?

The Move IQ® automatic activity detector allows your Garmin® watch to automatically detects certain types of exercise such as biking, running, swimming, walking, or using an elliptical machine. Continuous movement of at least 10 minutes will tag an exercise as an event.

When you have Move IQ enabled, it is possible for a Move IQ event to be detected even while you have an activity recording on your watch.

NOTE: Move IQ Events do not show in the device's activity history, Garmin Connect activity history, reports, in a user’s Newsfeed in Garmin Connect, nor will they count towards badge challenges.

To record a more detailed activity that counts toward your goals and totals, start the timer on your watch at the beginning of your activity and stop when you are finished. Timed activities will be the most accurate and include the most data.
