Pairing a Garmin GRID Without Using the Touchscreen

The GRID™ remote and the GRID™ 20 remote are remote devices that controls a station of one or multiple compatible chartplotters.

The standard pairing procedure for the devices is listed in the Owner's Manual for the chartplotter and uses that device's touchscreen. It is possible to pair the GRID without using the touchscreen if necessary. 


Pairing the GRID


  1. Connect the GRID and the chartplotter per the Installation Instructions

  2. Power on the chartplotter to the Home screen

  3. At the same time, press Home and + on the GRID 

  4. Turning the wheel on the GRID, select the ADD option on the desired chartplotter

  5. Press Select on the GRID

Once paired, the GRID allows the user to control all devices in the station.


GRID 20 Pairing


  1. Connect the GRID 20 and the chartplotter to the NMEA 2000 network per the Installation Instructions

  2. Power on the chartplotter to the Home screen

  3. At the same time, press the ◄ and ► keys together on the GRID 20

  4. Using the ◄ or ► key to move between stations, highlight the ADD button on the desired station

  5. Press the joystick to confirm the selection

The device is now paired and the user can control the stations.
