Non-Color Outdoor Handheld Shuts Down With a Vertical Line Along the Left Side of the Screen
This issue is caused by the device acquiring a signal from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) satellite. WAAS is a feature used by these devices that improve the position accuracy of the GPS receiver. This issue has been corrected with an update to the internal operating system of the device.
A temporary fix to resolve this issue (if an update cannot be applied to the device) is to turn off the WAAS feature. This will increase the accuracy error of the GPS device. To disable the WAAS feature, see the owner's manual for the appropriate device.
To permanently correct this issue the operating system of the device will need to be updated. To update the operating software of the device, a program called WebUpdater will need to be used. Instructions for installing and using WebUpdater can be found at the bottom of the page where the program is downloaded from.
