How LEN (Load Equivalency Number) Relates to Garmin Devices
The Load Equivalency Number (LEN) indicates the amount of current a device draws from the NMEA 2000 network. Each device should have an LEN specified on the product or in the product documentation. Search for the installation or owners manuals by the product name.
The LEN number is used to calculate the voltage drop in the NMEA 2000 network when multiple devices are connected. The formula for calculating the voltage drop is:
Voltage Drop = Cable resistance (ohms/m) × Distance (from the battery to the farthest device, in meters) × Network Load × 0.1
