Using Voice Control on a Garmin Dash Cam
The voice control feature on Garmin dash cams allows you to operate the camera hands-free by using specific voice commands. This feature enhances safety and convenience, especially while driving.
Your Dash Cam "Wake Word"
Voice commands start by saying the wake word for your dash cam. The default wake word is "OK Garmin." The following devices have the option to change the wake word to "OK, Dash Cam." This can be useful if you are also using a Garmin GPS navigator device with voice control features.
- Garmin Dash Cam™ X310 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ X210 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ X110 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 3 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ Live driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ 67W driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ 57 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ 47 driving recorder
- Garmin Dash Cam™ Mini 2 driving recorder
Changing Your Wake Word
On devices with a built-in display:
- Select
> Voice Control > Settings > Wake Word > and select OK Garmin or OK Dash Cam.
Via the Garmin Drive app when your dash cam is paired and connected to your compatible smartphone:
- From the device settings menu, select Wake Word, and select OK Garmin or OK Dash Cam.
Available Voice Commands
You can use several commands to control the dash cam. Substitute "OK Dash Cam" for "OK Garmin" if you have changed your wake word.
Save a video: Say "OK Garmin, Save Video."
Record audio with the video: Say "OK Garmin, Record Audio."
Stop recording audio: Say "OK Garmin, Stop Audio."
Take a picture: Say "OK Garmin, Take a Picture."1
Start Travelapse™: Say "OK Garmin, Start Travelapse."2
Stop Travelapse: Say "OK Garmin, Stop Travelapse."2 3
The camera will play a tone after you say OK Garmin to acknowledge that it's listening and second tone when it recognizes your command.
