Garmin Dash Cam Orientation and Mounting Factors
When mounting a Garmin Dash Cam, keep in mind the device's location on the windshield.
Before choosing a mounting location, the dash cam can be plugged into the provided power cable/adapter to check the camera's field of view and orientation.
See: Viewing Live View Video Using the Garmin Drive App.
For proper mounting installation and usage see your dash cam's Owner's Manual.
Dash Cam Video Recording/Mounting Factors:
- The dash cam is to be mounted and used in an upright position to allow for an upright-oriented video recording.
- If mounting the dash cam any other way, the video recording may not appear as desired.
- The dash cam mounted upside down or sideways will not auto-orient.
- The image in the video recording and the image in the Garmin Drive app will appear upside down or sideways.
- Dash Cams with a built-in display will appear oriented (right-side up), however the recorded video will be upside down.
