(2023) Service Bulletin 23047 Rev A: G5 Electronic Flight Instrument Software Version 8.20

PRODUCTS AFFECTED:

G5 Electronic Flight Instrument systems installed using Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SA01818WI are affected.

CERTIFICATION AUTHORIZATION:

STC SA01818WI MDL Revision 31

COMPLIANCE:

MANDATORY: This STC service bulletin is mandatory for Grumman American AA-5 Series airframes with a Garmin GFC 500 and Smart Glide™.

For all other installations, this STC service bulletin is recommended at the next scheduled service interval.

PURPOSE:

This STC Service Bulletin announces the approval of G5 Electronic Flight Instrument software version 8.20 which includes the following updates:

• Improvements to Smart Glide functionality when paired with a GTN™ 6XX/7XX Xi navigator and GFC 500 autopilot. This update resolves the issue documented in Garmin Service Alert 22027
  
• Supports using the Autopilot Disconnect button to disable ESP™ (push/hold AP DISC for 5 seconds) for GFC 500 equipped aircraft
  
• Improvements to other G5 functions including display of wind direction, flight data logging, and battery charging

This modification is warranty reimbursable with a deadline of November 30, 2023 or Grumman American AA-5 Series airframes with a Garmin GFC 500 and Smart Glide only.
