Android: App Crashing During Use
If your Navionics® Boating app is crashing during use, it is most likely that the memory usage of the device has been exceeded due to too many apps running in the background.
Verify Your App Version
Make sure that you have updated to the current version of the app. You can find more information in Android: Updating the App and Charts.
Close Running Apps
Force close all apps, including the Navionics app. To do this, simply:
- Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go.
- Swipe each app up to the top to close or swipe left until you see and tap Clear all.
-OR-
- Tap the Recents button to the left of the Home button.
- Swipe each app up to the top to close or tap Close apps.
These steps might vary slightly depending on your device's layout.
Clear the Cache
Clearing the app's cache is a way to resolve potential issues without losing the data you accumulated within the app.
To do this:
- Open your device's Settings.
(For most devices, swipe down, and choose the Gear icon.) - Choose the Apps option.
- Select Boating.
- Select Storage.
- Select the Clear Cache option.
IMPORTANT: Do not select Clear Data as this will remove data such as routes, tracks, and markers
Reboot the Device
Power the device off and then on again or select the Restart option on the power screen if your device offers the option.
If the crashes continue after following these steps, contact Product Support with a crash log, and details of what feature you were using before the app crashed for immediate investigation.
