Sending a LiveTrack or MapShare Link From Earthmate

Depending on which feature you have enabled on your account, a LiveTrack™ page link or a MapShare™ page link can be sent to friends and family after tracking has been started so that they may follow your progress. If you are using the MapShare feature and have set a password for your MapShare page, the password is included automatically when you use the share feature from the website, the device, or the mobile app. 

NOTE: Before attempting to send your tracking link, either the LiveTrack or MapShare feature should be enabled and configured in your inReach® account. If you attempt to send your tracking link prior to enabling either of these features, the message "You cannot use MapShare until you give consent at explore.garmin.com to post your data online" will be sent to your inReach device and will count as one received message on your monthly invoice. Sending a LiveTrack or MapShare Link From Earthmate® App on Android™

When an inReach handheld is actively paired, changes made to tracking (starting, stopping, track settings) in the Garmin Earthmate app for Android will also reflect on the paired inReach handheld.

  1. Open the Earthmate app.

  2. Touch Menu Icon to open the menu.

  3. Touch Tracking.

  4. Touch Start.

  5. Touch Share.

  6. Use the To: and Type Message fields to enter the desired recipient(s) and message. A description and link to either your LiveTrack page or your MapShare page will be included with the message.

  7. Touch Send.

The message will then be sent through the paired inReach device. Ensure your inReach handheld has a clear view of the sky so the message is not delayed.

Sending a LiveTrack or MapShare Link From Earthmate App on iPhone® or iPad®

When an inReach is actively paired, changes made to tracking (starting, stopping, track settings) in the Garmin Earthmate app for Android will also reflect on the paired inReach.

  1. Open the Garmin Earthmate app.

  2. Touch Tracking.

  3. Touch Start.

  4. Touch Share.

  5. Select Share.

  6. Use the To: and Type Message fields to enter the desired recipient(s) and message. A description and link to either your LiveTrack page or your MapShare page will be included with the message.

  7. Touch Send.
